The early 70's to early 80's saw another great movement in installations, augmentations and restorations. In Co. Down, Hillsborough became a 10 bell tower while Drumbo became an 8 bell tower. The bells in Blessington (6) were re-hung and a very light peal of 6 were installed in Newcastle, while in Dublin the bells of St. Audoen were restored. The late 80's saw the installation of a fine peal of 12 in Ballymena and in 1999 the augmentation of Christ Church Cathedral was completed giving Ireland it's first ring of 16 bells (with 3 additional semitones).

'Sir, - it is proposed to form an 'Irish Association of Change Ringers', which shall have for its object the unity of all ringers for the promotion and study of Scientific Change Ringing. With a view to this all interested are cordially invited to attend a meeting to be held in St Patrick's Schools, St Patrick's Close, Dublin, on Saturday 22nd inst., at 8.00 pm for the purpose of founding, if possible, such a society. Bands of ringers who reside at too great a distance from Dublin to attend or send a delegate, are earnestly requested to communicate to the Secretary the number in their company who are desirous of joining. Members will be requested to pay a small annual subscription (about 1s) to defray working expenses.

RICHARD R CHERRY, President St Patrick's Cathedral Society
DIGBY SCOTT, Clerk, President Christ Church, Bray, Society
G LINDOFF, Sec., Pro Tem., and Conductor of St Patrick's Cathedral Society, 2 Mount Brown, Dublin."
